Change is Afoot at

Contact Quarterly

Not Just Contact,
Not Only a Magazine,
And (Still) Not Quarterly

To all our readers, visitors, and subscribing and virtual members:

New developments at the Vehicle for Moving Ideas

While many publications are shifting all their content online, CQ is determined to stay in print. Coming in 2010, we will be expanding our web content and changing the schedule and formats for our print publications to reflect our commitment to remaining in print, while developing the unique opportunities of web media and responding to the financial weather. We hope these changes will continue to support dialogue, connect dancers, and widen perspectives on the contemporary dance field.

Here is what's in progress for our Subscribing and Virtual (web-only) Members:

In print:

  • Contact Quarterly Annual Issue—drawn from our online postings and other new materials.
  • Mini-Publications—unique small format, one or more per year.
  • Advertising Supplement—published six months after the annual, with display ads for programs, workshops festivals, publications, and services in the dance field.

On the Web:

  • CQ Online—editor-curated articles, open submissions welcome year-round
  • CI Webtexts—chosen from your "as is" writing on Contact Improvisation
  • Contact Improvisation Newsletter— two per year: one in the Annual, one online

Please see our submission guidelines for sending in your writings.
